Nicole Bolton

Nico works as a Program Coordinator at Y.O.U.

As an environmental educator and youth development specialist, Nico always encourages her
students to be passionate about the natural world, their identity, culture, and conservation of theirNicole Bolton 2.jpg
communities through social justice and restorative justice work around the City of Chicago.


While at DePaul University, she received a 2015 Stonewall Award for helping create and become
the first President of Queer People of Color, an organization dedicated to aiding LGBTQ+
students of color throughout DePaul. Since then, she has accrued over six years of experience
working in youth program development and teaching for educational non-profit organizations.
She also is familiar with the museum world through two past internships. In 2010, she had the
opportunity to work at the Field Museum as a Ford Environmental Leadership Intern for
environmental advocacy training and research. Her time there drove her to continue her
education in urban environmentalism.


Nico has a B.A. in Environmental Studies with a Minor in Women’s and Gender Studies from
DePaul University and is currently a graduate student progressing towards her M.A.T in
Elementary Education at National Louis University. Nico is a native Chicagoan residing on the
Southeast side and lives with her feline daughter, Yume, a 5-year-old Tuxedo. Nico enjoys
watching anime, supernatural and horror movies, and K-dramas with her partner. She enjoys
working on drawing and illustrations, nature walks, and listening to new music.
