Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 30, 2016

Youth & Opportunity United, Inc. (“Y.O.U.” or “us” or “we”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit youth development agency that provides services and leadership to meet the emerging needs of young people and their families in our community. Y.O.U. is committed to upholding the transparency, accountability, and choice regarding the collection of personal information both online and offline. This Privacy Policy describes your privacy rights regarding our collection, use, storage, and protection of your personal information.

This Privacy Policy addresses the use and disclosure of information that you may provide to use or we otherwise collect from you when you donate money to us, support our mission in any capacity, or when you passively visit our website (www.YouthOpportunity.org). This Privacy Policy applies to any information that Y.O.U. collects, including information that you provide to us either online or offline.

This Privacy Policy is also incorporated into, and is a part of, the Terms of Use for our website.

1. Acceptance of Y.O.U.’s Privacy Policy

By making monetary contributions, supporting our cause in any capacity, or by visiting our website, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and our accompanying Terms of Use. If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, please do not provide us with your personal information and do not use our website.

2. Collection and Use of Personal Information

When you make a donation or volunteer with us, we ask you for personal contact information such as your name, mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address. We may use this contact information to provide you with a receipt; to contact you to clarify or obtain additional information about a donation you made; or to send you additional information about us.

If you make a donation, we may contact you on occasion to offer you an opportunity to make another gift. You may also receive a personal call from a member of our staff or volunteer thanking you for your donation. However, we do not use professional telemarketers or other outside vendors to solicit funds or otherwise communicate with our donors.

Y.O.U will not share or sell your personal information with anyone else or send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations. Personal contact information, however, may be shared with certain reputable vendors that assist Y.O.U. with various services, such as sending you postal mail or processing your donation(s). These vendors have access to your personal information only as needed to perform their services.

Y.O.U. may—to the extent permitted by law—disclose your personal information and the information described in Sections 7 and 8 below: (i) when required by law, court order, or other government or law enforcement authority or regulatory agency; or (ii) whenever we believe that disclosing such information is necessary or advisable, for example, to protect the rights, property, or safety of Y.O.U. or others.

3. Personal Billing Information We Collect and What We Do With It

In addition to personal contact information, we ask for your billing information when you make a donation, such as your billing address and credit card number. We use secure servers to gather and process your billing information. All financial transactions on our website, specifically donations, are managed through our agent, BrainTree. All transactions use an encrypted channel, take place on secure servers, and occur in real-time. No financial data, such as your credit card number, is transferred via a less-secure channel, such as e-mail, for processing. Your billing information is not shared with any other organization and your credit card information is not retained unless you have requested to provide us with recurring donations.

4. How We Protect Information Collected About You

Y.O.U. is committed to protecting your privacy. Y.O.U. has in place certain commercially reasonable security measures in an attempt to ensure the secure collection and transmission of personal information and to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. The storage and communication of information, however, can never be completely secure. As a result, Y.O.U. does not guarantee that information that you transmit or otherwise supply to us is or will be completely secure. If you become aware of any breach of the website security, this Privacy Policy, or the Terms of Use, please click here to notify us immediately.

Our website may contain links to third-party websites for your convenience. Likewise, third-party websites may link to Y.O.U.’s website. Y.O.U. is not responsible for the practices or content of any other websites. Our Privacy Policy does not apply to websites owned or operated by other organizations, companies, or individuals. These third-parties may have their own privacy policies related to the information they collect from you, and we encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party websites that you visit.
